FOLEY PERFORMANCE & EDITING

Foley is a unique sound effect technique that involves creating and “performing” everyday sounds for movies and television shows, such as clothes rustle, cups picked up & put down, punches thrown etc. In the case of a fight, foley would create realistic impact sounds and, depending on the movie, sound designers would then augment those sounds for heightened impact.

Foley effects are combined with the film sound recorded on set but can replace them if the original recorded sound is inadequate. 

Most scenes use a combination of on-set/on-location recordings and foley effects.
