Samhain: an overture for the Celtic new year.
The ancient Celtic tradition of Samhuin, of which Hallow’een is a faint echo, celebrated the point in the year when the veil between worlds was at its thinnest; and as we crossed over into the dark of winter, so could we momentarily cross over into the “undiscover’d country” our ancestors and loved ones had journeyed into; and they could briefly visit us.

This overture celebrates our love: at the beginning we remember loved ones and homelands distant and long-gone, we celebrate the love and joy we have for each other in the here-and-now with a merry roistering in the overture's middle section, and then a reflective coda of thanksgiving.
